Joomla! 1.5 is organised with three levels of content:
- Sections are big containers; they hold Categories.
- Categories are little containers; they hold Content Items.
- Content Items or Articles are all the text and images you want to appear on a page.
Imagine a filing system:
Sections are drawers, Categories are folders and Content Items are pieces of paper.
If you had all of your pieces of paper lying around in your room that would be a mess. If you had them in folders but the folders were lying all over the floor, that wouldn’t be much better. If you had the all the pieces of paper in a drawer, with no folders to organise them, that wouldn’t be so great either.

So to keep things organised, you need to put all your papers {Content Items} inside folders {Categories} inside drawers {Sections} and all this kept in your filing cabinet {Web Site}.
So, think about how your site will be organised.
Joomla! 1.6 does not have the same constraints. However, it is its early days of development and not all extensions are yet compatible.
